The following rules apply to posting on the boards:

1. Respect
(Bashing rule)

The boards will not tolerate insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts. Insulting religion, ethnicity, nationality, sexual identity or sexuality of any person is also prohibited.

Exceptions: Small things (eg: "bitch" "stupid" "dumbass") are allowed. Also, if both sides clearly know that what is said is a joke and not meant for malevolent reason and neither side is offended then using any word is allowed (eg: I love you cunt!).

How does it work?
Simple and clear. All insults (retard or fucking retard), threats, harmful wishes (on members or their loved ones) would fall under the insulting posts and personal attacks. We don't have time to go around explaining every single situation in the rules or go into the technicalities of everything. That's why we have people instead of computers as staff members. We know what's right and what's wrong. If we see someone trying to go around these we'll use our common sense and punish them the way we see fit.

This rule gives Staff the final decision whether someone that has been reported should be punished or not. They will look at the context and the seriousness of the insult and when (a minimum of three) moderators has discussed the incident they will vote on whether to give a warning or an infraction.

but: if you bash, you'll only get an infraction if the person you bashed reports it. This means you don't have to report posts for other members anymore. Everyone should be able to decide for themselves what they find insulting or not.

How to know what to say?
Use common sense. You're not on these boards to insult people but to discuss daily topics. You may disagree with other members but that can be done in a mature and a respectful way.
If you're unsure if what you want to say is against the rules you can ask the Staff. There's a sticky in 'ask The Staff' where you can ask: can I say: insert possible insult and we will answer. Do not try to refer to the thread or a post in the thread when arguing with a member. (I.e. There's a lot of words in that thread that I'd like to call you) You can also pm the staff. thread: http://britneyboards.org/showthread.php?p=1166152

2. No Spamming

Do not post nonsense posts. Do not post just to get your post count up. Post only relevant material on topic to the discussion going on. Posts of 1 or 2 words will be counted as spamming if done often. You will receive a warning or an infraction.

We do not allow posting hidden/auto-play (YouTube) videos/audios.

All topics and posts are to be made in English (with exception of the International sections), continuous use of other languages will lead to a warning, an infraction or a ban.

Serious Spammers from the get-go will be permanently banned on the spot. The boards are meant to be a place where you communicate your thoughts with others and not to compare post count.

Staff is allowed to merge threads if more than one will be created by the same (group of) member(s) in short amount of time with the same senseless or worthy information.

3. No Hacking or Stalking

If we become aware of the fact that you have attempting to either hack into another member's account or have started stalking any other member you will be banned.

4. No Overtly Sexual Content

Nudity is allowed as long as there is a NSFW tag and placed in a spoiler, however, pornographic images, gifs, and videos are NOT allowed.

spoiler tag: [*spoiler] [*/spoiler] remove the stars *

Links to porn sites are also prohibited. Remember that this site isn't an adult oriented site and so we have to protect our younger members.

5. No Starting Flame Wars

If you are going to post something that may start a flame war, please stop yourself from posting it. We do not have anything against arguing or discussion (arguments are a natural part of discussions) but we ask that members not purposely push each other's buttons without merit. Examples of flagrant activity concerning this rule include: following a member from thread to thread to insult them, starting a thread to call a member out, posting private messages and insulting members through your signature. We feel that insults on another member's deceased relative is unnecessary and falls under the category 'flaming'. If you have any issues with an other member, please focus on the member only and leave their relatives out of it. These acts promote a negative environment. A user must always have a fair opportunity to argue and discuss the problem. Repeat offenders will be banned from the boards.

As of 08/15/2009:

We are aware this is a forum of free speech BUT that doesn't mean we will allow ANYTHING to be said.

7. Do Not Bring Back Old Threads

Bringing back old threads is a form of spam if the thread is no longer relevant. Only post in active or at least still relevant threads. If you continue to bring back old threads you will be banned.

8. One Username Per Member

Members should only register one username. If you have more than one username the extra names will be erased and you will be given an Infraction. If you continue to have more than one username you will have ALL your names banned and your IP address blocked.

Prevention is better than cure!

If you are unsure if the reply/image/gif/video you're about to post is allowed feel free to contact a member of the Staff.

These are general rules. They encompass most actions deemed inappopriate. Do not assume we limit ourselves to only these rules! You can be warned and banned for acts not expressly stated above at the staff's discretion.

All rules subject to change with admins' approval.

All of these rules apply for visitor messages as well!

All of these rules still apply when giving reputation comments. (if turned on)

We can't check every reputation comment that is given, so if you receive a comment that breaks the rules, it's your responsibility to report it to us.

When you bash through a rep comment and it will be reported you will receive a warning/infraction AND the member who got bashed is allowed to know who bashed them. It will not be anonymously.

The General rules also apply to Private Messages. You will have to report the private message when a rule is broken.

We CANNOT monitor all activity on the boards. If you see someone breaking a rule, please report their post. We cannot moderate what we do not notice. Click the http://www.britneyboards.org/upload/themes/buttons-black/report.gif icon at the bottom left of a post to report it.
